How can I support my child?

YEAR 7,8 & 9

To support your child at home there are many things you can do. Here are a few ideas:

Testing their understanding of key vocabularly (using our topic specific vocab sheets).

Reading to them/with them science articles from the news - ask questions about what you have just read.

Simply asking them questions about what they have learnt, giving them opportunity to recall their understanding and how it links to what they have previously learnt in Primary school.

You can research together scientists who have invented, discovered and developed. Particularly current and modern science such as the Covid vaccine development and drug trial, the recent successful pig heart transplant, the first ever planned Welsh rocket launch etc.... encourage them to enquire about the world and science around us.
